+++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + + +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ FROM THE PUBLISHER +++ +++ TT HANK YOU VERY much for reading the September/October issue of MD News. In this issue, we examine the wide range of health care available here in Central New York. We are once again reminded of the world-class services available right outside our front doors. Our cover story features University Radiology Associates, LLP (URA). URA recently invested in a positron emission tomography/computed tomography scanner that provides the latest diagnostic imaging to a broad range of patients. Superior diagnostic imaging results in improved patient care and positive outcomes. As a partner with State University of New York Upstate Medical University, URA remains committed to offering advanced radiology services for patients across Central New York. One of the many imaging capabilities offered by URA is positron emission mammography. For women across the region, the availability of this advanced imaging technique is one more option in the fi ght against breast cancer. In our neurosurgery Q&A, we sat down with Gregory Canute, M.D., and Ross Moquin, M.D., both leaders in their fi eld. Recognized as thought leaders in their specialties, the two bring a powerful service line to Crouse Hospital. Partnering with other health care providers in the area, Drs. Moquin and Canute bring world class neurosurgery to our area. We are once again reminded how fortunate we are to live in an area with such a wealth of quality health care. Also in this issue, Jerry Hoffman, Executive Vice President of the Onondaga Medical Society, reviews subject items from the 2011 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Medical Society Executives. One overall theme is that physicians should be leaders in the ongoing health care revolution. With all the challenges of the new health care environment, physicians need to act in a unifi ed manner, with sage leader- ship. If they do not choose this course, others will, of course, fi ll the void. Once again, I would like to thank all those who come together to create our magazine. Here at MD News, we are dedicated to delivering an engaging reader experience — one with real, local relevance. In each issue, we highlight distinguished physicians and provide updates on the latest medical studies and fi ndings, pointers for managing your practice, and a unique look at what is happening in the local medical fi eld. Please continue to contact us with nominations for cover stories, current news within your organization and feedback on articles. We are here to serve the physician community and the health care fi eld.
