V1N4 3 * 2 3 Take the pressure off. "There's no way to know your blood pressure without getting tested, so talk with your physician about getting screened," said Anne Gard, M.D., family medicine physician with St. Joseph. "To lower your blood pressure, aim for a high-fiber, low-sodium diet." Get happy. Exercise has been shown to improve your mood and even prevent symptoms of depression and anxiety. Yoga, spin class, and other group exercise courses can give you a boost from exercising with friends. Sleep to better health. "Eight to ten hours of sleep a night shouldn't be a luxury—it's a necessity," Dr. Gard said. Dear Neighbor, At St. Joseph Regional Health Center, we're enhancing our commitment to caring for your family when the unexpected happens. Construction is in full swing on the new St. Joseph Emergency & Trauma Center (ETC) to complement our designation as the only Level II Trauma Center in the region, providing the most comprehensive care. The facility—to be located on our campus at the corner of Koch Street and Memorial Drive—will double the size of our current emergency department (ED) to better accommodate the 70,000 visits we receive to our ED each year. Follow our progress online at st-joseph. org and view our live webcam of the construction as we work toward opening the ETC in early 2016. And remember, the ED at St. Joseph Regional Health Center and the St. Joseph College Station Emergency Center are available whenever you need them. Yours in good health, Kathleen Krusie, M.A., F.A.C.H.E. CEO, St. Joseph Regional Health Center COO, St. Joseph Health System
