Premier Cares Foundation was proud to host its 4th Annual Celebrity Chef Dinner featuring master chocolatier Chef Jacques Torres for a sold-out fundraiser with 230 guests at the Poughkeepsie Tennis Club. Chef Torres worked in tandem with the culinary team at Cosimo's Trattoria to pre - pare a chocolate-themed dinner, featuring chocolate-infused selections in every course. Hestan Vineyards, Halftime Beverages and Bread Alone provided many of the featured items on the menu. Chef Torres worked with Solbeso, the world's first cacao fruit spirit, to create a drink called the "Wicked Hotchata". Guests enjoyed an entertaining evening as Chef Torres shared his culinary stories, perused the silent auction, and enjoyed the live music by Tom DePetris Jazz Trio. Orange Regional Medical Center re- cently celebrated its First Annual Ronald H. Israelski, MD, Excellence in Education Awards Ceremony. The award recognizes a distinguished group of physicians, resi - dent physicians and medical students who have dem - onstrated educa- tional innovation and excellence. Director of Medical Education John Dermigny, DO, and medical student Christianna Anderson were this year's honorees. HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley has received the "Get with the Guidelines" Stroke Silver Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for the treatment of stroke patients. HealthAlliance has received a Quality Achievement Award from the heart and stroke association every year since it brought together and realigned the former Kingston and Benedictine hospitals in 2009. Those hospitals are now HealthAlliance Hospital: Broadway Campus and HealthAlliance Hospital: Mary's Avenue Campus. HealthAlliance earned the award by meeting specific quality-achievement measures for the rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients at a set level for a designated period. These measures include proper use of medications and ag- gressive risk-reduction therapies aimed at reducing death and disability and improv- ing the lives of stroke patients. The Greater Hudson Valley Health System has become a member of The Schwartz Center and now conducts Schwartz Center Rounds as part of its commitment to the humanity of health care and employee wellness. Schwartz Center Rounds offer healthcare providers a regularly scheduled time during their fast-paced work lives to openly and honestly discuss the social and emotional issues they face in caring for patients and families. The premise is that caregivers are better able to make personal connections with patients and colleagues when they have greater insight into their own responses and feelings. In order to conduct Schwartz Center Rounds, healthcare institutions must be a member of the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare. Results have shown improved teamwork, interdisciplinary communi- cation and appreciation for the roles and contributions of colleagues from different disciplines. Orange Regional's Art Curator, Sarah Johnson, spoke to the students about art and the healing environment it provides throughout the Hospital. The Junior Leadership Orange Program is provided at no cost to participating students, their families or the school districts. Since the program's inception, more than 100 youth have graduated.
