Robinson has over 1,500 employees and is the second- largest employer in Portage County. Southwest General Health Center recently achieved, for the second year in a row, Heart Failure Certifi cation and Stroke Center Certifi cation by The Joint Commission. Summa Health System has begun raising steel beams for its new emergency depart- ment facility located just off I-77 at the corner of Boettler and Massillon roads and across the street from the Summa Health Center at Green. The planned $17 million, 22,000-square-foot emergency department will be staffed by emergency medicine physi- cians board-certifi ed in adult and pediatric emergencies. The facility will include 14 exam rooms, two resuscitation rooms and state- of-the art imaging. The Summa Emergency Department is expected to create 50 new jobs. Construction is expected to be com- pleted in June. Summa Barberton Hospital now offers bal- loon sinuplasty, a minimally invasive surgical option for patients suffering from chronic sinusitis. Similar to cardiac balloon proce- dures that open blocked arteries in the heart, a sinuplasty balloon catheter is inserted in to the nose until it reaches the blocked sinus area. The catheter is gradually infl ated to open the passageways helping to restore nor- mal drainage. Patients generally experience little bleeding compared to conventional sinus surgery and many patients are able to return to their normal activities more quickly. Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital has completed the expansion and renovation of its emergency department, as part of the overall Summa Health system initiative to grow emergency services throughout the re- gion. The project increased the department's square footage from 9,300 to 16,000 and increased its capacity from 12 to 20 beds. The expansion included moving corporate health services to space adjacent to the emergency department, providing added convenience for occupational health clients who can now access services at one entry point. Summa Western Reserve Hospital has received the Get With The Guidelines–Heart Failure Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association. The recognition signifi es that Summa West- ern Reserve Hospital has reached impressive benchmarks in the evidence-based treat- ment of heart failure patients. Get With The Guidelines is a quality improvement initiative that provides healthcare providers with tools that follow proven evidence-based guidelines and procedures in caring for heart failure patients to improve outcomes, prevent future hospitalizations, and prolong lives. Union Hospital has been named, for the second year in a row, as one of the 25 "Most Wired" hospitals in the nation in the small and rural hospital category by Hospitals and Health Networks magazine, a publication of the American Hospital Association. In recent years Union Hospital has been converting from a paper system to an electronic system of ordering, reporting, and recording patient care information to improve clinical care quality, patient safety, and the overall the pa- tient experience. Patients can also view their hospital charges and make payments on-line. University Hospitals (UH) will transform an existing 7,500 square foot offi ce building in Barrington Town Center at 55 Chillicothe Road, into the UH Aurora Health Center by January 2012.
