The Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit at Southwest General It may be the loss of a spouse or life-long friends. A declining sense of independence. Or dealing with a chronic illness. All of these reasons and more can lead to severe bouts of depression, suicidal preoccupation and sudden and unexplained changes in behavior in older patients. Southwest General's 18-bed Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit provides
short-term inpatient care for older adults suffering from acute psychiatric and behavioral symptoms and crises. Interdisciplinary teams of psychiatrists, nurses, and therapists work with the patients
and their families to evaluate and treat the behaviors. Consultation and support is provided by the Medical Staff when necessary. For more information, call 440-816-8200 or visit us at www.swgeneral.com/gbhu.
