Our cover story features the Eye Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Central New York, who perform minimally invasive treatments for conditions of the eye, eyelid, orbit and lacrimal system at their outpatient ambulatory surgery center in Syracuse. Access to such care is a boon to the region, as there are fewer than 700 oculoplastic surgery specialists worldwide. Our special feature focuses on the outpatient interventional radiology services at CRA Medical Imaging. Operated by the same fellowship-trained team responsible for inpatient procedures at Crouse Hospital, Oswego Hospital and the VA Medical Center, CRA's new outpatient facility provides a comfortable setting where patients undergo less complicated interventional radiology procedures. At the new facility, CRA Medical Imaging specialists offer an expansive array of outpatient services, including X-ray, ultrasound, CT, 3-D digital mammography and bone-density imaging, as well as routine interventional radiology procedures such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, feeding tube changes, implanting chest ports, and ultrasound-guided node and mass biopsies.
