TESTIMONIAL "When KGP Architects had to leave Hawai'i to work on another project, Mr. Canner came to the rescue and did an amazing job on the re-design and construction of the Locascio historic house along the beach at Diamondhead, Honolulu. The house was originally designed in 1926 by the famous Hawai'i architect C.W. Dickey to be his residence. This wonderful home was fully refurbished by Mr. Canner, who took loving care of every detail and masterfully introduced new electrical, plumbing and cooling into the building as well as rebuilding all the windows, doors and roofing. Slight modifications were made to the plans, allowing the living room to be more separate from the sleeping wing by placing shelving into a doorway and shifting the entrance to another location. This construction allowed the original design to remain and simply covered it up for a more practical, contemporary life style. Not only did Mr. Canner do fantastic work on the house, he also created a life-long relationship with the owners and neighbors. Historic Hawai'i was so pleased it gave the design an award for historic preservation. Around the world, Gary Canner leaves behind him meaningful architecture and very pleased clients. Congratulations are due to Mr. Canner for a job well done." — KPG DESIGN STUDIO DERBY STREET RESTORATION/RENOVATION The Derby Street project, located adjacent to the Salem National Maritime Historic Site, was a renovation project where modern con- veniences and systems were updated.
