M arie Behnken, a nurse for 40 years prior to retirement, was a beloved volunteer and Auxiliary leader with CHI St. Joseph's Health. When Marie became terminally ill and needed Hospice services, her family turned to CHI St. Joseph's Health Hospice Care. "Marie was a wonderful person who loved life," says Gordy Behnken, Marie's husband. "She loved working with people and having family around. She was enjoyed and liked by everyone she ever associated with." The compassionate care provided by CHI St. Joseph's Hospice Care allowed Marie's family to treasure the time they had remaining with her. "I can't say enough about the care Marie received," Gordy says. "Three of Marie's nurse friends were with her each day, providing care guided by Hospice nurses. I thank God Marie had these women with her. I know she felt their presence." WHAT WE DO CHI St. Joseph's Hospice Care centers around providing quality end-of-life care through a team approach focused on helping patients and families live as fully as possible in the comfort of their homes, free from pain, and surrounded by loved ones.
