DEAR PHYSICIANS: This April we will mark the fifth anniversary of the integration of All Children's Hospital with the Johns Hopkins Health System. We are a 259-bed pediatric referral center with a 90-year history of providing clinical excellence located in St. Petersburg, Florida. Thanks to this partnership, we are building upon our clinical strengths with greater education and research to deliver great care for children from across Florida and the southeastern United States. Our academic transformation is well underway, with an innovative new pediatric residency program that is a partnership between All Children's and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. More than 60 sta members now hold academic appointments with Hopkins and are engaged in teaching, mentoring and inspiring our residents. Research at All Children's continues to develop with the launch of cohort studies, a pediatric biorepository and the Johns Hopkins All Children's Molecular Determinants Core, all of which will play a key role in our emerging focus on pediatric precision medicine. Scientists and clinicians in St. Petersburg are collaborating with their Baltimore colleagues thanks to the integration of our institutional review boards, with larger study populations and new research partnerships strengthening the impact of these investigations. Clinical care, education and research unite as the focus of our four institutes dedicated to cardiac care, neuroscience, cancer and blood disorders and maternal/fetal/neonatal health. We recently broke ground for the Johns Hopkins All Children's Research and Education Building, which will be the academic and research home for our institutes. In the meantime, we have recruited—and continue to recruit—pediatric experts from around the nation to lead our institutes as we continue to provide compassionate and precise care. During these changes our goal is constant: to elevate pediatric medicine and provide great care for children in Florida, our nation and across the world. I invite you to learn more about All Children's Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine in the pages thatfollow. Sincerely, Jonathan Ellen, M.D. President and Physician-in-Chief All Children's Hospital Vice Dean and Professor of Pediatrics Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine To refer your patient, call the Physician Access line at 877-222-0404 | Winter 2016 3 President's Letter
