6 CRHEALTHCARE.ORG More an a Hpital Your health is our business—and at Columbus Regional Healthcare System (CRHS), that means ensuring everyone has the opportunity to take advantage of the innovative care available. "We've worked hard to make sure the hospital has many high-end and technologically advanced services," says Carla Hollis, chief executive officer at CRHS. "Access to care that's sorely needed shouldn't depend on a family's financial situation. That's why we provide services to those who are uninsured or have undergone a financial hardship." Charity care is available for patients who meet the following criteria: • Income up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level based on family size • Limited assets and no real property • Are not receiving a cosmetic or elective procedure "We have numerous options for financial assistance in addition to charity care," says Carl Biber, chief financial officer at CRHS. "Those can include financing options and discounts for those who pay the day of their procedure. We work with uninsured patients in a variety of ways, including initiating the process to determine if they qualify for Medicaid or other government assistance." Catastrophic assistance is also available to some patients who do not qualify for charity care but have catastrophic medical care bills. WORKING WITH YOU Another vital part of our economic role in the community is providing jobs. From clinicians and physicians to administrative and support staff, our team is a crucial part of who we are and what we do. We know our community depends on CRHS for sustained economic support and growth. We're proud to embrace our role as the sixth-largest employer and the third-largest private employer in the county. "We are a nonprofit, and we act like a nonprofit," Biber says. "We try to operate by the philosophy that margin leads to mission, and mission leads to margin. We want to keep this hospital going for the next 100 years, and we invest in our people through wages, salary and benefits."
