A short time ago, we broke ground on the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Family Health Center. As this ultra-modern family clinic takes shape, we are also beginning our expansion of the CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline campus to meet our community's health care needs. You can read about the groundbreaking in this issue. Keep reading our LiveWell magazine for updates on all the exciting changes happening on both the Memorial and Shoreline campuses as our transformational project continues. Also in this issue of LiveWell, read about the inspirational bond between one of our nurses and a childhood friend. Through the healing power of friendship and laughter, this patient was able to make a full recovery from a major stroke and have her dear friend by her side along the way. Finally, we are excited to highlight our Impella heart device program, which provides South Texas cardiac patients with the world's smallest heart pump. This revolutionary device has already changed the lives of dozens of our patients who have more energy and vitality and, more importantly, more time to spend with their loved ones thanks to their renewed health.
