At the CHI St. Anthony Hospital Women's Clinic, Michael Brunsman, MD, OB/GYN, is dedicated to ensuring the women in our community have access to quality and compassionate care. Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Brunsman provides services such as annual wellness checkups, Pap smears, prenatal care and delivery, and care for gynecologic problems including infertility, menopause, and pelvic pain. When it comes to bringing your miracle into the world, the professionals at CHI St. Anthony Hospital's Family Birth Center want to ensure that your needs are met and your wishes are followed in a compassionate manner. "Our staff goes above and beyond to make a mother's stay at our hospital a positive and safe one," says Tracy Wart, BSN, RNC-OB, Manager of the Family Birth Center. "This includes everything from providing mothers top quality medical care that aligns with their birth plans wherever possible, to personal touches such as giving homemade quilts to our babies." WHAT WE OFFER The labor and delivery unit at the Family Birth Center is family-oriented, with rooms made as homelike as possible. Features include soaking tubs, couches that convert to beds for family members staying with the mother, and refrigerators and microwaves. "We want the mothers to run the show as much as possible within the bounds of medical safety," Tracy says. "We offer epidurals, but we also support natural childbirth. As far as comfort methods go, we have everything from birthing balls to ambulatory monitors in case we need to watch the baby closely while mom is up and walking around the room or the hall." A large number of the well-trained and experienced physicians, nurses, and certified nurse anesthetists have been with the Family Birth Center since it opened, making them familiar in the community. All nurses are trained in neonatal resuscitation, and the staff consistently looks for new continuing education opportunities. "We are a small community, and our staff are all local," Tracy says. "A lot of our patients know their nurses before they ever come to the hospital, and that helps them feel more comfortable during the labor and delivery process."
