The Lagasse Group Nancy & Kevin Lagasse L UCK HAPPENS WHEN opportunity meets hard work. Nowhere is this more evident than in the success of The Lagasse Group of Hopkinton, MA. Under the guidance of Kevin and Nancy Lagasse, the company has grown tremendously since its founding in 2010, multiplying its yearly rev- enue tenfold. While many observers would chalk that up to luck, the Lagasses know it took a lot of preparation, hard work and a commitment to client service. The Lagasse Group grew from Kevin's love 16,000-square-foot private residence addition and renovation A geothermal system and solar thermal vacuum tubes provide all of the home's domestic hot water. of the challenge and detail found in residen- tial construction. With a background in civil engineering and 30 years' experience in resi- dential and commercial construction with firms such as Payton Construction and Suffolk Construction, Kevin knew his experi- ence could translate into exclusively working with residential clients. Nancy, his wife, has an equally accomplished background as an attorney specializing in labor and construc- tion law. Together, the pair divides the day-to-day company operations. Kevin han- dles most of the client service for the operation, and Nancy takes care of business and organizational issues. Kevin credits the time he spent with Suffolk Construction with giving him the experience he needed to undertake residen- tial construction on his own. "Most importantly," he says, "Suffolk taught me how to put a great proposal together. The firm has an extremely profes- sional and commercial approach, and this certainly influenced how I approach our proposals. They are extremely detailed, yet still user-friendly. "Secondly, I was privileged to work on the construction and build-out of the Mandarin Oriental project in Boston. I worked with more than 50 different homeowners, their design teams and their consultants. It was a great learning opportunity, managing all of the different personalities and team members and figuring out how to get everyone working together. It was humbling for me to realize that I still was 'in training' after 25 years of experience, but when you report daily to John 10 | GREATER BOSTON Builder+Architect BOSTON.BUILDERARCHITECT.COM COVER FEATURE PHOTOS © ERIC ROTH PHOTOGRAPHY
