BARRIERS ON THE PATH TO A SITE VISIT, SAYS KENT
MCMACKIN OF THE MCMACKIN FOCUS GROUP INC.
THE CEO OF the Nashville area-based physician recruitment
orga nization blogs about ways to avoid ma king site visit
scheduling needlessly a nnoying to ca ndidates. Here a re a
few of his recommendations:
+
Do the math: A physician will find the trip more manage-
able if it requires him or her to miss only a day of work
rather tha n to be out for a n ex tended period.
+
Remember who's courting whom: Resist the tempta-
tion to ask ca ndidates to select from a mong dates that
a re convenient to the orga nization.
+ Seize the (right) day: Avoid scheduling a Tuesday,
Wednesday or Thursday site visit — unless the candidate
requests one of those days.
+
Cut to the chase: Don't leave a physician waiting and
wondering once he or she has given you a date for the visit.
Take no more than one day to confirm. Dragging things out
only increases the likelihood that the visit won't happen.
+
Keep it steady as she goes: Once you set the date for a
site visit, stick to it. ■
