Everyone's Got Talent On Friday, February 12, nearly 20 performers sang, danced, and recited their hearts out at the annual North Dakota's Got Talent event. People supported by three local organizations—CHI Friendship, the Life Skills & Transition Center, and REM North Dakota—took the stage in front of an audience of more than 100 community members. Solo acts, duos, and group performances delighted attendees. "There was a lot of variety," said Heather Jenkins, Qualied Developmental Disability Professional Administrator at CHI Friendship. "A duo sang 'Ring of Fire.' One gentleman sang and played his guitar. A lady recited the poem 'Footprints in the Sand' and then sang 'You Are My Sunshine.' These were just a few of the memorable performances." A panel of six community business leaders—three of whom kept their identities secret until the end of the show—judged the acts and awarded several prizes at the end of theevent. "Our organization supports many gifted people," Jenkins said. "Several times during the show, I heard audience members say, 'Oh my goodness, I didn't know [he or she] had that talent!' Events like North Dakota's Got Talent allow people we support to embrace their spirituality and creativity. They choose what they want to do for their talent and look forward to this event each year." CHI FRIENDSHIP /// www.chifriendship.com 2
