" We a l s o h a n d le c r e dent i a l i n g ," Di Bona says, " because credentia ling t y pica lly isn't ha ndled ver y well, even by credentia ling compa nies. We have our own tea m that ha ndles credentia l- ing. One of the biggest fr ustrations is that some insura nce compa nies ta ke 30™days, some take 60 days, some of them ta ke even longer. Right now, there's a big problem with Ha r va rd Pilg rim where they 've cha nged their whole database, a nd now they 're ta king a ny where from four to six months to complete the cre- dentia ling process. "So i f a practice h i res a physicia n who is scheduled to sta r t, say, 60 days from now, we ca n help t hem ma na ge that. We ca n let them know that Mass Hea lth a nd Medica re will be ready by then a nd advise them to have the new provider see these patients f irst. Wa it for Harvard Pilgrim. Wait for Blue Cross Blue Shield. They 're going to ta ke four months to complete the credentia ling process. A nd that helps the practice to properly ma na ge workf low a nd ma ke sure t hat t here's no nonpay ment for ser vices that a re provided." O t h e r s e r v i c e s o f f e r e d b y DM S include PQ R S set up, documentation t r a i n i n g , c ompl i a nc e a ud it i n g a nd business consultation, a mong others. If a client is in need of a ser v ice that DMS doesn't provide, DiBona has built a n ex tensive network of other ser vice providers he ca n tap into for help. The Sa lus Resource Group consists of a n array of hea lthcare industry specia lists, from accounta nts, law yers, practice va luation specia lists, insurance brokers a nd ma ny more. " I w a nt t o m a ke s u re t h at I h ave a nswers for our clients whenever a ny- thing comes up outside of billing and the other ser vices we offer," DiBona says. "A lot of these practices a re sta r tups, where they don't have a lot of money, they don't have a law yer, they don't have a n accounta nt. They need to come up with a business pla n or a n ROI projec- tion. They need to k now where t heir brea k-even point is if they buy a certain piece of equipment. I help them out with that, too." THE PERSONAL TOUCH For all the services that DMS o˜ers its clients, DiBona believes the most valuable one is the personal touch. "I know that no other billing company will drive to the hospital, sit down, meet with doctors and say, 'OK, we've done audits on all your people. Here's where you have room for improvement, and here are things you're not billing that you can bill out.' "We head all over Massachusetts and the surrounding states to help out our cli- ents. That's why we're not really national, because I like having that face-to-face. I like to be accountable so if something goes wrong, I can show up, and I can bring my compliance person, or my operations person, whoever is needed for that meeting. We hop in the car, we drive over, and we deal with it."
