Ted DiFiore PUBLISHER Cleveland/Akron/Canton ............................................... tdifiore@mdnews.com 844-311-7906 ............................................... @MDNewsCLECAK Northeast Ohio has received its fair share of national acclaim lately. In June, we found ourselves home to the NBA championship team; in July, the Republican National Convention. Those two landmark events brought much positive attention to a region that has always had a lot to brag about — including our top-rated healthcare industry. In this issue of MD News, we highlight the diversity of excellence in people and organizations embracing the charge to serve others. For example, Northeast Ohio is home to Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, one of only nine accredited podiatric colleges in the United States. That's pretty amazing, and the fact that KSUCPM is 100 years old is even more remarkable. Speaking of remarkable, Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University have launched a one-of-a- kind high-tech partnership that will prepare medical professionals for the rapidly evolving future of health care. And Unity Health Network, which continues to grow in size (physician members) and specialties, is now the third largest independent physician group in the entire state. We have a lot of great things going on in health care in Northeast Ohio, and, as the new publisher of MD News Cleveland/A kron/Canton, I feel privileged to bring well-deserved attention to this. Will you help me in this endeavor? Please drop me a line with your story ideas, news and views on local health care. Thank you, and thanks for reading MD News. Ted DiFiore
