The GHVHS Marketing and Public Relations Department won the admirable healthcare awards in partnership with their local agency, Focus Media. For the fourth consecutive year, Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville was named a national "Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality." The Medicare- and Medicaid-certified nursing home, providing com- prehensive skilled nursing 24 hours a day — part of HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley — received the honor from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the educational arm of the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization. The foundation gives the distinction to U.S. healthcare facilities that meet LGBT-inclusive benchmarks contained in the foundation's national Healthcare Equality Index 2016. The index is an annual national survey that encourages equitable and inclusive care policies and practices for LGBT patients, visitors and employees. The designation Mountainside received is based on healthcare facili - ties' patient nondiscrimination policies, equal visitation policies, employ- ment nondiscrimination policies and training for employees in LGBT patient-centered care. The Michael B. Finnegan Golf Classic at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston raised $85,000 to support cancer services and staff training at HealthAlliance Hospital. More than 150 golfers, volun - teers and supporters gathered for the 35th annual event June 10. Twenty-eight teams competed in a four-person scramble. The Covington team of Bill Collins, Jake Hommel, Bryan Smith and Mike Stock took home the coveted Finnegan Cup. Since 2014, proceeds from the amateur golf classic have been dedicated by the HealthAlliance Foundation to enhancements for the new cancer unit and infusion center planned for the future single HealthAlliance Hospital. With foundation support, HealthAlliance will work with the local arts community to incorporate color, images, sound and water to create a healing environment for cancer patients and families. This year, the golf classic also raised nearly $13,000 to establish the Ann Horowitz Memorial Scholarship, a monetary award to assist with continuing education for oncology staff. Orange Regional Medical Center achieved Magnet recognition in May as a reflection of its nursing professionalism, teamwork and superiority in pa - tient care. The American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program distinguishes organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence. With this credential, Orange Regional joins the global community of Magnet-recognized organizations. Only 6 percent of U.S. healthcare orga- nizations have achieved Magnet recognition. Magnet recognition is the gold standard for nursing excellence and is a factor when the public judges healthcare organizations. U.S. News & World Report's annual showcase of "America's Best Hospitals" includes Magnet recognition in its ranking criteria for quality of inpatient care. The Magnet Model provides a framework for nursing practice, re - search and measurement of outcomes. Through this framework, ANCC evaluates applicants across a number of components and dimensions to gauge an organization's nursing excellence. On Monday, June 20, the Orange Regional Medical Center Foundation held its annual Golf & Tennis Classic, raising $250,000 in net proceeds to benefit Orange Regional Medical Center's new physician office building and Spagnoli Family Cancer Center. The event, chaired by Jake Kriney and Eric Savacool, hosted more than 250 golfers at the Stony Ford Course and West Hills Country Club. The annual Golf Classic continues to be one of the key fundraising events for the Hospital and is supported by the community, sponsors and players, as well as Hospital staff and volunteers. The Golf Committee raised funds by selling limited raffle tickets, basket raffles and procuring numerous sponsorships. Orange Regional's Vice President of Medical Affairs, Jim Oxley, DO, challenged golfers at a betting hole on the Wallkill Golf Course while celebrity guest Van Ritshie, of FoxRadio, challenged golfers at West Hills Country Club. n From left: Digital and Social Media Marketing and PR Specialist Victoria Lange; Medical Group Marketing and PR Director Jolie DeFeis; Marketing and PR Director Marcy Manheim; Marketing and PR Executive Director Rob Lee; Community Outreach Marketing and PR Specialist Dominique Mohansingh; Marketing and PR Senior Specialist and Media Liaison Lauren Kropf- Zuckerman, and Marketing and PR Coordinator Whitney Fors Frank Finnegan, committee member and father of tournament namesake Golf & Tennis Classis Co-Chairs Eric Savacool and Jake Kriney congratulate the Bonura-sponsored foursome of Christian Vonn, Mike Bonura, Brent Caster and Patrick Mainey.
