New Faith-Based Health Care Center Opens in Tallmadge for Uninsured
NEW NONPROFIT CHRISTIAN healthcare center will be open- ing this summer. Located at 65 Community Road, Suite F,
in Tallmadge, and staffed by volunteer healthcare providers, Faithful Servants Care Center (FSCC) will provide alterna- tive access to care for the uninsured population of the Greater Akron area. Husband and wife physicians Mark
and Sue Meyer along with Dr. David Hoff are spearheading the effort. Their mission is to unite the medical and church communities to provide compassionate, high quality urgent care to those without healthcare insurance who are at or below 200 percent of the poverty income level. Clinic staff will include volunteer primary
care and emergency medicine doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dentists, eye doctors, nurses, medical assistants and ancillary staff. Specialty physicians are welcomed to provide on-call care for problems that require more expertise. Pastoral support and assistance will be
provided by local churches, which have also committed to help with funding to provide medications, while local healthcare systems have joined together to help provide neces- sary supplies. These healthcare systems, along with OPEN M and Access to Care, are continuing to explore ways to close the healthcare gap for low income level workers with no insurance. FSCC will be open seven evenings a
week from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. All age groups with any disease conditions are welcomed. There will be no cost to the patient for healthcare. Medicines, depending on availability, will be available at no cost. Donations will be gladly accepted According to Dr. Mark Meyer, more
physician volunteers are needed to com- mit to one four-hour shift per month.
