From the President Dear Friend: It is a tremendous responsibility when patients and families come to us seeking the very best and safest care for their children. We take this responsibility seriously. Our physicians, scientists, nurses and researchers are committed to our mission to deliver the best outcomes and make cures more achievable. As you will read in this issue of For the Kids, it takes a talented and viable community in addition to our talented medical team to deliver our very best. The stories you will read highlight the importance of our relationship with donors. Philanthropy reaches far outside the subject of funding, as donors also help inform our mission. Your support helps us extend our care to the most critically ill children while being able to recruit world-class medical staff who continue to lead our 90-year legacy of clinical excellence. It also helps us invest in technology that improves care today and research that will redefine tomorrow. Together we are working to support our emerging role as a leader in children's health. Our journey cannot be managed alone and our donors are integral to all of our efforts. You are an important pathway to healthy tomorrows for children everywhere, and our appreciation grows with each step taken together. Sincerely, Jonathan Ellen, M.D. President, CEO & Physician-in-Chief Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital Vice Dean and Professor of Pediatrics Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Medals and ribbons were ready for the runners and families from across the bay who came out for the 3rd Annual Running for All Children event early on a Saturday morning in May. The 10K, 5K, one-mile and "fun run" raised $28,000 to benefit Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. Fall 2016 3
