As it happened, it was the day we were moving into a new house," writes Mandy Garver of Bloomfield Hills. "I thought I had plenty of time, but babies decide to come when they want! Allen, my husband, and I took off for the hos- pital and a half-hour after our arrival, Daniel was born. Our friends, meanwhile, continued to move our things into the new house and basically did our move for us while we were otherwise occupied! "Fast forward to this summer," she continues. "My daughter, Rivka, was preg- nant with twins and due July 20. She and her husband, Dave, were moving into a new apartment July 1. "Allen and I rented an apartment in Chicago, where they live, for two months to help them with the twins at the begin- ning. We moved in June 27 and helped them with packing up their apartment. Rivka had a doctor's appointment June 30, and we got a call that she was going to the hospital and would be induced that night. "July 1 came, and Allen and I worked with the movers to move Rivka and Dave into their new apartment, since they were otherwise occupied! Maya and Jonah were born on July 1. Rivka says to this day that it was beshert since we owed the world a move! We really don't want this to be a family tradition, but I guess it is what it is!" * Mandy Garver holds grandchildren Maya and Jonah. SPECIAL MOMENTS A Family Tradition
