WHEN A SHLEY YEATS, MD, came to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton (BID-Milton) as Chief Medical O‰cer in 2011,¯one of his goals was to build a robust women's health program where women¯could have loca l access to the sa me¯ level of¯ OB-GY N ca re found in tertiary¯hospitals. "I have always felt very strongly about women's hea lth being a foundationa l building block of a community hospital and community practices," says Dr. Yeats. "O u r relat ion sh ip w it h B et h Isrea l Deaconess Medica l Center [BIDMC] really opened up an exceptional oppor- tunit y to establish that , a nd for our community to maintain access to high- quality OB-GYN services." Thanks to its a‰liation with BIDMC, the hospital is now able to o•er outpatient g ynecologica l and obstetrica l care in Milton, including prenatal visits, while babies are delivered at BIDMC through the Milton Women's Health practice of OB-GYNs A lice Shin, MD, and Huma Farid, MD. In addition, new gynecological a nd obstetrica l subspecia lists from BIDMC now see patients in the o‰ce as well. The BIDMC-BID-Milton partnership brought with it the leadership and exper- tise of Hope Ricciotti, MD, Chair of the Department of OB-GYN at BIDMC. "The BIDMC-BID-Milton is part of our systemwide clinical integration," says Dr. Ricciotti. "It's a big win for patients because there are many women in the area who need to see a subspecialist and it saves them the hassle of going downtown.
