FOR A CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
Signed by all 23 pediatricians serving the Macon area and
e Medical Center of Central Georgia, this letter of support
advocated for the creation of a children's hospital patterned
aer Vanderbilt's "hospital within a hospital" model.
1987—CREATION OF THE CHILD LIFE PROGRAM
Making hospital visits a positive experience for children is
tricky, but Navicent Health is dedicated to the task. Since
1987, child life specialists have worked to ease fear of the
unknown and help children cope with their stay with us.
1989—CREATION OF A
NEONATAL INTENSIVE
CARE UNIT (NNICU)
Aer the growth of neonatal intensive
care as a specialty during the 1960s and
1970s, our rst NNICU opened as a
12-bed unit in 1989.
