Physician Recruiting SUCCESS STORIES A lot has changed in health care over the past few years. But one thing that hasn't changed is Huron Regional Medical Center's commitment to building a team of highly trained professionals to care for the communities we serve. Here in Huron, HRMC is at the heart of community well- being. Our emergency team members are there in crises, our obstetric nurses help families welcome new life into the world, our physical therapists help get people back on their feet, and our specially trained nursing team, imaging specialists, support staff, surgeons and other experts provide understanding support during some of life's most trying times. Maintaining a team like this over the decades can be challenging. That's why HRMC has a robust program of community outreach and educational support. "We have to inspire the minds of young people and give our future nurses, technicians and doctors the support they need to be successful," says David Dick, president and CEO of HRMC. "Careers in health care are within their reach." Recruiting physicians to a rural community can be challenging. One successful strategy HRMC employs is seeking out local students who want to become doctors. The hospital supports the students through medical school and residency and provides medical school tuition reimbursement along with practice setup and support in return for a five-year practice commitment in Huron. Our goal is to find providers who desire to practice in a rural setting and will help meet the growing needs of our patients. Four of our successfully recruited physicians share what they do for the community and how being at HRMC works for them. "HRMC recruited me several years ago when I expressed interest in returning home to practice. I love so many things about Huron." —Elyse Brock, MD, obstetrician and gynecologist, joined HRMC in August 2016 Several other students and residents are in agreements with HRMC to arrive in Huron between now and 2021. Students who are interested in pursuing careers as physicians here in Huron are encouraged to reach out to HRMC's president and CEO, David Dick, at (605) 353-6565. Huron really feels like home to us." —Alese Fox, MD, board-certified family medicine physician, joined HRMC in October 2014 "Growing up in Colton, South Dakota, I knew I wanted to return to my home state and practice in a smaller community. I am passionate about treating the full spectrum of a woman's needs – body, mind and spirit – throughout her life." —Sara Castellanos, DO, FACOOG, board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, joined HRMC in September 2011 "I always knew I wanted to work with kids.
