Lindsey was a devoted wife and mother, daughter, sister and best friend. She was also a deeply commit- ted and passionate role model and advocate for those whose lives also were affected and touched by cancer. Those who knew her and connected with her all have said, "Lindsey made this world a better place." Born in Detroit, Lindsey grew up in Bloomfield Hills, where she attended Cranbrook/Kingswood School. She later went on to the University of Michigan, earning her B.A. in history. After gradu- ating from the University of Michigan, she moved to New York to pursue a career in the world of fashion. She sub- sequently moved back to Detroit, work- ing in the advertising specialty business. It was then that Lindsey met her loving husband, Brett, and had her two adoring children, Charlie and Frankie. In July of 2011, Lindsey was diag- nosed with a rare form of cancer that would change the trajectory of her life and the lives of her family and friends. In the year following the diagnosis, Lindsey underwent chemotherapy followed by an intense and grueling surgery, followed by additional chemo- therapy. Despite the intensity of the initial treatment, "Lindsey never gave up.'" She was a warrior. Through her battle, Lindsey wanted to help others, who, like her, were affected with her rare cancer. Lindsey mentored them through a pro- gram called Imerman Angels; she also worked with the Henry Ford Cancer Center to raise funds to bring a special chemotherapy treatment, HIPEC, to Henry Ford Hospital. Lindsey under- went this treatment at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center as it was not available in Michigan; she credited it with saving her life. It was Lindsey's dream to bring this program to Michigan so that our community could have this benefit. Unfortunately, Lindsey's cancer returned in 2014. She often referred to her cancer as "a beautiful gift wrapped in a hideous box," as it truly caused Lindsey and those who surrounded her to see the beauty and lessons of life. Lindsey provided us with a plethora of guiding lessons. She taught the lessons of hope and courage, of love and friend- ship, of grit and willingness, of compas- sion and kindness, and surrender with grace. She taught us all how to be brave in the face of the unimaginable. Lindsey was a bright light and a shining star. Lindsey passed away Dec. 18, 2016. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Lindsey was the beloved wife of Brett Finsilver; mother of Charles and Francesca Finsilver; cherished daughter of Robert and Leslie Jacobs; loving sister of Lauren (Eric) Bean; daughter-in-law of Stanley and Shari Finsilver; sister- in-law of Amy and Steven Ben-Ezra; aunt of Jacob, Alexander and Catherine Bean, and Koby, Reese and Chase Ben- Ezra. She is also survived by her dear- est friends, Catherine and Dr. Charles Schwartz, and their children, Claire and Joey. We loved Lindsey with all of our hearts. Goodbye, Lindsey; we love and miss you dearly. Arrangements by Ira Kaufman Chapel. * (See related story on page 16.)
