Our Mission and Core Values Serve as Guiding Lights For all of us at CHI Friendship, two of the most important factors we use as a compass in providing support to people are our Mission Statement and our four Core Values. Our Mission Statement tells us "what" we are to do. Our four Core Values tell us "how" we are to carry out supports and interactions—with "Reverence, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence." Please allow me to expand a little more on our Mission Statement. It calls for us to nurture the healing ministry of the Church, or as I like to paraphrase, to nurture the healing ministry of God. How is it that we can "heal" or create a sense of well-being? Healing comes in a variety of sizes and shapes, and in actions that can be individualized or made company-wide. Healing or a sense of well-being occurs when someone supported nds the job he or she wanted or reunites with a family member, when we sit down to ask someone how his or her day is going, or when a person supported is fully included in a group, congregation, or community. The second area I would like to discuss is the way we embrace our four Core Values of Reverence, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence. At CHI Friendship, we spend extensive time trying to live out the four Core Values. We are all evaluated on how well we meet them every year. What these values describe is "how" we are to do this each and every day with each person we support and with each other. In striving to meet our Core Values, we create a corporate culture in which they are at the heart of supporting people to achieve their goals and dreams. Reverence calls us to a deeper respect for each person. It calls us to respect choices, dierences, each person's spirituality, and the importance of working together. Integrity calls on us to be open and honest in all we do and to hold ourselves to high ethical standards. Compassion allows us to join others in joy as well as sorrow, walk a day in another's shoes, promote individualized person-centered supports, and advocate for people in a variety of ways. Excellence calls us to innovate, not be afraid to allow risks, be accountable in all we do, and strive for our personal best. Living out our Mission and Core Values is a continuing journey for all of us at CHIFriendship. We certainly know that we must continuously improve to provide the best supports possible. We view it as a great honor and privilege and hope it truly makes a dierence in the lives of the people we support and our sta. Blessings to All!
