Additionally, we provide state-of-the art training to athletes preparing for Olympic-level competition in 2020. In partnership with Baylor College of Medicine, CHI St. Luke's Health–The Woodlands Hospital provides aspiring and injured athletes alike the services they need to maximize athletic performance. Whether you are training for your first 5K or working to recover from an injury you endured on the football field, the sports science and human performance experts with The Woodlands' Performance Medicine department will help you achieve your goals at every stage of competition. "Any level of athlete can benefit from the Sports Medicine services we provide," said Amy Iademarco, RN, Manager of Clinical Support Services with The Woodlands. "By taking a multidisciplinary approach to care, we can address a wide variety of needs, including athletic enhancement, injury prevention and treatment, and rehabilitation." PARTNERS IN PERFORMANCE By working with Baylor College of Medicine, we are able to blend our proactive approach to community care with the latest research resources and techniques from the academic world. "Because of this collaboration, people in our community do not have to travel all the way to Houston to receive the care they need, and our team does not have to go far to stay up to date on the latest information," Amy said. "Everyone benefits." Together, our sports medicine specialists are equipped to improve outcomes through a full complement of programs, including: • Performance testing — By conducting assessments at our performance lab, we can determine the most effective plan to maximize each individual's athletic abilities. • Performance training — Once his or her performance assessment has been conducted, each athlete may work together with our sports medicine team to design and implement a training and nutrition plan to support the highest level of performance. • Concussion assessment — In the event of a head injury, we conduct baseline and post-concussion ImPACT neurocognitive testing to properly diagnose and manage concussions, sending athletes back into the game when they are ready. • Health and wellness — If you are simply trying to incorporate more physical activity into your lifestyle and manage weight, our exercise and nutrition experts can help put together a sustainable plan that fits into your daily lifestyle. • Rehabilitation — Outpatient programs are tailored to meet each individual's needs when recovering from injury. A comprehensive, holistic approach to rehabilitation may include occupational, physical, and speech therapy, and cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation.
