Flexible hours The ambulatory surgery unit is open weekdays from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. For appointments, call 888-321-DOCS weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. or weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voicemails left after hours will be returned as soon as possible. As the saying goes, "Minor surgery is what someone else has." The fact is, most people find the thought of any surgical procedure a little intimidating. So the new ambulatory surgery unit at Glen Cove Hospital was planned with one goal in mind: to take the stress out of same-day procedures. The result — a bright, welcoming space on the hospital's newly renovated third floor — is a place where patients and their families are cared for and can feel comfortable, from admission and pre-surgical testing through recovery and discharge. In the unit's state-of-the-art facilities, medical specialists perform a variety of outpatient surgeries, from breast reconstruction to fracture repair. "As our surgery volume has increased, it has become more important for us to have a beautiful space for patients and their families to wait prior to surgery and recover after their outpatient procedure," said the hospital's executive director, Susan Kwiatek, DNP.
