After losing the tooth from an in-game collision, Thomas wore a custom Shock Doctor mouthguard for the rest of his playoff run. "That was my first time wearing a mouthguard and it's a good thing because I hit my teeth pretty hard again," Thomas said in a post-game inter- view. "Without Shock Doctor, my tooth would probably have been on the ground like it was in Game One. I now understand the importance of wearing a mouthguard." "Our partnership with the NBA allows us to continue our mission to ensure athletes have the best protective equipment to stay safe on the court," said Tony Armand, CEO of United Sports Brands, the parent company of Shock Doctor, said after Thomas' endorsement. "We're glad wearing a mouthguard is now part of his essential gear." Two New On NSGA Board The NSGA recently named two team dealers/ retailers to its board of directors. UÊKevin Bezanson is president of Cleve's Source For Sports, a family-owned business located in Canada with 18 locations in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He follows in the footsteps of fellow Sports Distributors of Canada members Dale Donaldson and Terry Hennessey, who both served terms on the NSGA board. He has also served on the Sports Distributors of Canada board of directors. UÊGreg Miller is the president of Universal Athletic, headquartered in Bozeman, MT. He was previously VP of the team dealer and became president upon the retirement of former Universal president Larry Aasheim. Schutt Sues Riddell Schutt Sports has filed a lawsuit against Riddell claiming that Riddell is infringing three patents covering Schutt's football helmet technologies. The Schutt complaint identifies Riddell's SpeedFlex, Revolution Speed, Revolution Speed Classic, 360, Revolution IQ, Foundation, Revolution Edge, Revolution Attack, Revolution Attack-I, Attack, Victor-I and Victor helmet models as infringing Schutt's patents. The lawsuit requests an injunction that would prevent Riddell from continuing its patent infringe- ment and an award of damages for Riddell's infringement. BSN Buys Two More BSN Sports recently completed the acquisition of Athlete's World, also known as Stadium Sports, based in Midland and San Angelo, TX. Athlete's World, serving team customers since 1979, is a distributor of team apparel and equipment in the western region of Texas. And then last month BSN Sports acquired Academy Sports, based in Salt Lake City, UT. Academy had served the team business in in Utah since 1991. USB Rolls Out B2B Site United Sports Brands recently unveiled a new e-commerce platform for use by its sales rep- resentatives and retail partners. Developed by PlumRiver, the site will provide enhanced one- stop ordering capabilities for its Shock Doctor, McDavid, Cutters, Nathan and XO Athletic beands. MyHouse Sponsors PIAA The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) and MyHouse Sports Gear have signed a partnership agreement making MyHouse the Official Wrestling Apparel Sponsor of the PIAA State Team and Individual Wrestling Championships. The three-year agreement grants MyHouse print, broadcast and electronic advertis- ing, website placement and with on-site promo- tional and sales opportunities. PIAA will distribute MyHouse ordering information to each member school that sponsors varsity wrestling. Select Named German Ball Derbystar/Select recently entered into an agreement to supply the Official Match Ball for both the Bundesliga and Bundesliga Two, beginning with the 2018-19 season and running through 2021-22. The Select ball has a long his- tory with the German professional league, going back as far as the 1970-71 season; in the 1979- 80 season, Derbystar balls were used in all 306 matches played in the Bundesliga. Riddell Partners With USA Football Riddell and USA Football have renewed their partnership with a six-year agreement. Riddell will continue to assist in fulfilling the organization's annual grant program, which will award nearly $2 million in 2017 to scholastic and youth football teams. Riddell also will become a sponsor of USA Football's Heads Up Football program. Dick's Teams With US Youth Soccer Dicks Sporting Goods has entered into a multi-year, strategic partnership with US Youth Soccer and its Dick's Team Sports HQ youth sports platform. It will provide technology to US Youth Soccer and its members. In addition, Dick's will support the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series as its presenting sponsor through onsite activations to increase participant engagement. Q
