The country offers
wonders to discover
for every personality.
BY JORDAN RANE
ZEALAND
A
Colorado-sized nation hanging on
the edge of the Southern Hemisphere
blessed with famously genial folks, a
superhuman rugby team, preternaturally large
sheep herds and no snakes or venomous insects.
That's one way to describe New Zealand.
An even more alluring description: One of
the most captivating and accommodating travel
destinations hiding on any corner of the planet.
From the South Island's Tolkien-esque
mountainscapes and glacier lands (they didn't
fi lm Lord of the Rings here for nothing) to the
North Island's steamy volcanic parks, Maori
cultural hubs and sweet subtropical coasts,
New Zealand's countless supply of wonders
and attractions far surpasses the sum of its
compact population and square mileage.
So how do we single out our favorite
bits and pieces of Kiwi country? By
inventing four distinct "personality types"
— and whetting your appetite for even more
discoveries when you get there.
