We recently celebrated the opening of brand-new outpatient rehabilitation centers in Beaumont and Port Arthur. No matter your location throughout the region, you can now find physical, occupational and speech therapy close to home. Following treatment of an injury or medical condition, people of all ages sometimes need a bit of extra help regaining skills, such as walking, dressing, eating and talking. That's where rehabilitation comes in — therapists work with patients one on one and in group settings to help them tackle obstacles standing in the way of the activities they love. FROM BEAUMONT... The CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Outpatient Rehabilitation Center in Beaumont has a long history of caring for community members in need of rehabilitation services. Several years ago, we realized our team was running out of room, so we launched a multistage expansion project that ended in February 2017. Through the project, we: + added five individual evaluation and treatment rooms + built an ADL (activities of daily living) kitchen, where our occupational therapists help their patients relearn how to use appliances and prepare simple meals + doubled the size of our treatment area + expanded our occupational therapy space and o›ce space + renovated our locker rooms These amenities complement our existing indoor, heated pool where we oœer aquatic therapy and water aerobics, which, unlike our therapy services, don't require a physician referral. "Physicians — both those within our community and outside of our area — refer patients to us because of the services we provide, the successes we have attained and the extensive experience of our therapists," says Patrice Baldwin, MHA, rehabilitation supervisor at the CHRISTUS Outpatient Rehabilitation Center.
