MOBILE TECHNOLOGY PLAYS A SIGNIFICANT
role in brick-and-mortar visits for both
men and women. But there are some key
differences in the way men and women use
their smartphones in the stores.
Women crowdsource and research.
Women use mobile devices more than men
while shopping and use them differently.
They are more likely than men to call, email
or text someone while shopping. Women
are also more likely to check email, take
pictures of products, and seek the advice of
their friends and family regarding potential
purchases.
Men are in "get in, get out" mode.
Men use their smartphones in stores
less than women do with one exception
— Google. Men are slightly more apt to do
online research in the store than women. It
seems men are more focused on getting what
they came for and less on seeking a second
opinion from their community (except for
sales associates) during the process.
