T he National Hockey League and Adidas have unveiled the Adizero Authentic NHL jerseys for all 31 NHL teams, which will make their on-ice debut with the 2017-18 season. "Specifically created for elite performance, we've designed the Adizero Authentic NHL jerseys to deliver advanced innovation and technical design for the world's best hockey players," says Dan Near, head of Adidas Hockey. In 2015, the NHL and Adidas announced a seven-year partnership in which Adidas will become the authentic outfitter of on-ice uniforms as well as an official supplier of licensed apparel and headwear for the league starting with the 2017-18 season. "Adidas is a brand recognized worldwide for innovation and technology investment, creating constant innovation in high performance apparel," says NHLPA chief of global business strategies, Sandra Monteiro. "The players are excited to partner with Adidas, creating a new milestone in hockey apparel, bringing edge, innovation and premium design to the game, specifically focused on their performance." Adidas plans to connect with fans in the upcoming season through large- scale brand activations at key NHL events, including the NHL Combine, the NHL Draft, the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, the Coors Light NHL Stadium Series, the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the NHL All-Star Game. Additionally, Adidas will work with the NHL on a number of grassroots initiatives. Announced in June 2015, Nike's partnership with the NBA begins with the 2017-18 season. Prior to a major launch in early fall, Nike and the NBA have offered up a sneak peek at four new primary uniforms and gave a first glimpse of the league champion's Association jersey (pictured at left). The NBA is eliminating its "Home" and "Road" uniform designations. Beginning with the 2017-18 season, home teams will pick which of their uniforms will be worn at all home games and visiting teams will choose a contrasting uniform within their own assortment. Nike and the NBA worked together to create four core uniforms for each team, classified as "editions," which draw from the heritage of the league and its teams. The first two editions of the NBA uniforms, which will be introduced by teams this summer and will make their on-court debut at the start of the season, are the Association and Icon editions. The two remaining core uniforms will be revealed in the coming months. The Association edition will be the traditional home white uniform that all 30 teams will have in their assortment, while the Icon edition, previously known as the road uniform, will utilize the team's primary color. Nike's design team has tweaked the weight, fit and construction of the uniforms — paying special attention to enabling agility. The uniform is comprised of a combination of Alpha yarns and recycled polyester, which represents a commitment to sustainability, and also removes moisture more quickly than previous NBA uniforms, according to the brand. Nike will also unveil a new on-court collection, including tights and socks. O
