SACRED HEART HOSPITAL 900 W CLAIREMONT AVE EAU CLAIRE, WI 54701-5105 FROM THE FRONT LINE OUR COLLEAGUES AT HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph's hospitals don't stop caring for patients as soon as they walk out of their service areas. They can't just flip a switch and ignore the pain and heartbreak around them. Recently, Kristi, a CNA in the surgery department at HSHS Sacred Heart, was buying chocolate in the gift shop for a mid-afternoon snack. As she was waiting to pay, a customer was attempting to buy flowers for her mother who was having surgery. The credit card machine wasn't working, and after repeated attempts, the family member was becoming upset. Kristi sprang into action and paid for the flowers through payroll deduction. The family member was emotional and thanked Kristi profusely for her kind gesture. Days later, the family member found Kristi to thank her again, reimburse her for the cost of the flowers, and give her a chocolate candy bar. We cherish these connections in our hospitals. It's expected that we will provide top-notch care. It's anticipated that we will heal and comfort. But even more, our founding Hospital Sisters took that extra step to ensure compassion was felt for all, no matter the circumstance. We regularly mimic the compassion and ideals of the Sisters as we care for our community. Our patients and their loved ones are our family. We take care of each other within our hospital walls and beyond. ® This publication in no way seeks to serve as a substitute for professional medical care.
