Northern Dutchess Hospital was recently designated an Aetna Institute of Quality Orthopedic Care Facility for knee and hip. The designation was based on the hospital's unique expertise in consis - tently delivering evidence-based, safe care, according to the healthcare insurance provider. To make informa - tion about the quality and cost of health- care ser vices available to its members, Aetna recognizes hospitals and facilities in its network that offer specialized clinical ser vices for certain health conditions. The designation is good for about three years. Northern Dutchess Hospital's Bone & Joint Center incorporates a wide array of ser vices on one campus and is accredited by The Joint Commission. A multidisciplinar y team of physicians, nurses, therapists and technologists offers patients a nationally recognized and convenient course for treatment. Bariatric care at Orange Regional Medical Center is among the top 10 percent in the nation as measured by volume-weighted performance, according to this year's evaluation from Healthgrades. Healthgrades, the leading online resource helping consumers make informed decisions in order to find the right physician and the right hospital for the right care, evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 34 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions. This is the second year in a row that Orange Regional has received the Bariatric Excellence Award. The achievement is part of findings released in the Healthgrades 2017 Report to the Nation. The new report demon- strates how clinical performance continues to differ dramatically among hospitals nationally, regionally and locally, and the impact this variation may have on health outcomes. A 5-star rating indicates a hospital's clinical outcomes are statistically significant - ly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated.
