Here is an excerpt: "The origin of my interest in medicine began when I was 8 years old as I watched my mother crying and moving around with severe pain during an episode of renal colic," Dr. Saliba says."My father and I sat at her bedside, unable to help. Finally, the doctor came in and gave her an injection. Five minutes later, she was free of pain. "This experience instilled in me a strong desire to emulate that doctor's abilities to help people when I grew older. I remember wondering, 'How does the human body work?' and 'What did the medication do to help?' I remained fascinated with biology throughout my school years," he explains.
