Who We Are Applied DNA Sciences (Applied DNA) is a NASDAQ-traded (listed as APDN) biotechnology company headquartered in Stony Brook, New York and provider of a molecular DNA technology platform that allows companies to authenticate materials and claims associated to end products. Applied DNA has expertise implementing its CertainT™ platform in several core industries: textiles and apparel, agricultural, pharmaceuticals, and personal care. The platform is already protecting millions of pounds of cotton, polyesters, recycled PET, and specialty coatings traveling through the supply chain to retail shelves. The platform is also being used to tag, test and track leather as a pilot program with the British Leather Consortium. These factors are a priority, particularly with the millennial population, which is expected to constitute half the global population by 2020, and has huge purchasing power. This generation values brands with products that are responsibly-sourced and ethically made. The days of relying on paper documents for traceability are giving way to technologies that provide proof of origin -- not just another label claim on a product that can easily be falsified. Today, brands need to be proactive about any claim that they are making. The risk of not being transparent is too great; no one wants to face a situation of an unverified conflict material in a product. With great uncertainty in textile supply chains, comes CertainT™. Certainty is Only a Molecule Away CertainT™ is an integrated supply chain platform for verifying authenticity from the source to retail. The three pillars of the platform are: Tag, Test, and Track enabling brands and manufacturers to preserve the integrity and quality of the source materials in their supply chain. Consumers will have confidence that claims and ingredients listed on the label are proven in the finished product. Tag: Natural and synthetic fibers can be tagged with SigNature® T. The molec- ular tag is robust, safe, and inert. It has no impact on the form or function of raw materials or end products, and is persistent throughout the manufacturing process. SigNature® T tagged materials have their own identity (or provenance) and offer a unique story of where, when, and how they were made. Recycled fiber can also be tagged to provide assurance of sustainability claims, quality and identity. SigNature® T tags can be added to a wide range of textile specialty coatings and finishing treatments, as well as incorporated into the typical textile manufacturing process to create unique tags for each type of product, batch or even lot. The flexible nature of SigNature® T technology facilitates easy addition of the tag at virtually any stage of textile production – wet or dry. Test: Authenticity testing is the corner stone of the platform; Testing can be conducted at Applied DNA's forensic laboratories, on-site or in field with pre- scribed processes and tools. Molecular tag analysis verifies applied identity. Optical and digital rapid-screening tools of tagged original packaging labels offer a quick, economical means of in-field screening and provides a means for the end-consumer to verify products at home or even online. Results may be provided in the form of Go/No-Go reports or detailed data for comparative and trending decisions. Certification Services include training, standard operating procedures, audit protocols, expert witness reporting, and local field operations for product sampling. Track: Data is collected from the time the molecular tagging solution is sent to the origin point through to point-of-sale. The tagged raw materials are tracked as they are incorporated into each of the manufacturing stages. Traceability Information regarding chain of custody, geo-location and date/time stamp, lot or serial number identity is useful for proactive and reactive audits. These data points provide brands with a compelling story to share with their customers that product claims are met with absolute certainty.
