Getting to Know the Value of CertainT™ Loftex and GHCL Team with Applied DNA Two companies in the home textile market, Loftex and GHCL Ltd, have part- nered with Applied DNA to advance sustainable product authenticity using the CertainT™ platform. This platform is designed to tag, test and track synthetic fibers, whether virgin or recycled, to provide transparency, traceability and trust throughout the textile supply chain. Loftex will use CertainT™ as an integrated supply chain platform verifying authen- ticity from source to retail to assure that Loftex bath and beach towels containing fibers made from recycled plastic water bottles (r-PET) are, in fact, recycled. "As we became aware of the global authenticity issue and the increasing consumer demand to know where their products come from, we searched for a solution that would address this need quickly," said Charles Gaenslen, CEO of Loftex Home. "Applied DNA's CertainT™ exceeded our expectations. We adopted the CertainT™ platform not only because it aligned with our commitment to innovation and our product-development stream, but also, it provided the opportunity to bring consumers sustainable products that are authentic and traceable to origin." A major U.S. retailer is expected to sell Loftex manufactured towels using our CertainT™ platform, which are expected to be available on the retailer's e-com- merce website by the end of 2017. The packaging will incorporate the CertainT™ emblem that signifies traceability, transparency and trust in the supply chain. GHCL Limited is using CertainT™ platform services in connection with select home textile products such as bedding, pillowcases and shams that are source-ver- ified recycled products. They are also exploring applications for duvet covers. "As the need for sustainable and recyclable textiles continues to increase in demand from our customers, we want to offer products that provide true traceability that go beyond a paper document. In these uncertain times, our customers deserve and expect certainty," stated Neeraj Jalan, Business Head, Home Textiles, for GHCL. "The collaboration with Applied DNA provides a means to produce and supply our customers with source-verified, recycled products, as well as access to new authentication technologies in synthetic fibers that Applied DNA develops over the course of our relationship." CertainT™ molecular tagging ensures forensic level traceability at every stage in the manufacturing process; authenticating the routes that materials take through recycling and reuse; and ultimately providing consumers with the highest levels of confidence in the origins of their goods. Without the use of a secure tag, it is all too easy for premium or 100 percent recycled fibers to be diluted by unscrupulous suppliers and for paper-based certification systems to be forged.
