The PrimaLoft ® brand, a registered trademark of PrimaLoft, Inc., delivers feel-good products that are used in the top global outdoor and fashion brands, home furnishings, work wear, hunting and military applications. PrimaLoft ® insulation was originally developed for the U.S. army as a water-resistant, synthetic alternative to down. Today, the brand is recognized as a benchmark in the outdoor industry for providing unsurpassed comfort in any condition, ultimately empowering users to stay in the moment. PrimaLoft, Inc. is active in sustainable textile production through partnerships with the bluesign ® system, the International OEKO-TEX ® Association, the Sustainable Apparel Coalition's Higg Index and the Global Recycle Standard. L aunched at retail in 2016 via Patagonia's Nano Puff® col- lection, PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco, made with 55% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, was more than a one-off dip in the sustainability pond for the synthetic insulation innovator. The eco version of the industry's premium synthetic insulation has now been rolled out to additional brand partners for their fall 2017 lines, replacing the original PrimaLoft® Gold insula- tion, with zero loss in performance or hand feel—and without additional cost. In addition, PrimaLoft has upgraded its PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Active with 45% PCR, PrimaLoft® Silver Insulation Eco with 70% PCR and PrimaLoft® Black Insulation Eco with 60% PCR content. The company recently updated its five-year sustainability goal to having 90% of its insulation products con- tain at least 50% (originally 35%) post-consumer recycled materials, without compromising performance. Maintaining product integrity while introducing PCR content into any textile product is a delicate balance. Originally developed as a water-resistant, synthetic alternative to down, the PrimaLoft microfiber is highly versatile, providing a high warmth-to- weight ratio, and superior breathability. PrimaLoft insulation, fabric, and yarn products are unmatched for loft, water resistance, and comfort. "When we set out to increase our focus on delivering sustainable prod- ucts, we committed to introducing post-consumer recycled content without compromising performance or increasing price," says Mike Joyce, president and CEO, PrimaLoft, Inc. "Advancements in the supply chain and PrimaLoft capabilities were crucial in this effort. Over the past few years, technology has evolved to allow us to source recycled material that meets our high standards for developing a performance-based PCR product." In 2017, additional brands using PrimaLoft® Eco Insulation products include adidas, L.L. Bean, Lululemon, and Timberland waterproof boots with PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation Eco needled, containing 90% PCR. PrimaLoft® Eco Insulations products will soon receive the Global Recycle Standard (GRS), an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions. PrimaLoft's position as an innovative developer of comfort solutions using high performance fiber technologies brings the company a unique opportunity to further incorporate sustainable products and practices in its global business. For example, PrimaLoft® Silver Performance Yarn Eco blend is the perfect blend of post-consumer recycled fibers and proprietary PrimaLoft® polyester fibers. The yarn may be used to create textiles providing faster drying than conventional polyester blends, with high performing, long-lasting durability, and super soft hand-feel. Boasting 70% post-consumer recycled content, this eco-friendly yarn blend delivers a trifecta of essential comfort, performance and environmental responsibility to BUFF® Thermonet® tubulars, balaclavas, and caps this fall. Since 2015, PrimaLoft has saved more than 58.8 million plastic bottles from landfills and used more than 3.2 million pounds of recycled content across its global business. PrimaLoft, Inc.
