36 November 2 • 2017 jn What began as a fundraiser for the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan became an evening that honored Doreen Hermelin and her late husband, David, for years of opening their home to community events. "Stories and Jewish Art: A Tour of the Judaic Art and Jewish Artists in the Collection of Doreen and David Hermelin" also celebrated the art collection she and David began curating early in their marriage. The sold-out event drew close to 200 people who heard stories from Doreen about the history of their home and viewed their art collection, guided by JHSM docents who told more about the pieces. The Oct. 19 event also offered some stories about Hermelin family history. • To view a video of the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan's fundraiser at the Hermelin House in Bingham Farms, go to thejewishnews.com . faces & places jews d in the PHOTOS BY JESSICA POLK Mia Kennedy of Birmingham and David and Elizabeth Elkus of Bloomfield Paul and Lynn Lieberman of West Bloomfield Doreen Hermelin of Bingham Farms Judy Domstein of West Bloomfield Margie Charnes of Commerce Township Annette Reich of Birmingham Linda Gold of Bloomfield Hills Michael Fenberg of Birmingham
