Provider SPOTLIGHT A PROCEDURE OFFERED AT COLUMBUS REGIONAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM CAN RELIEVE A HOST OF SYMPTOMS CAUSED BY MISALIGNED FEET. Columbus County has become a destination for people seeking treatment for misaligned feet, a condition that can lead to almost constant pain in the back, hips, knees and heels. Don Peacock, DPM, a podiatrist and member of the medical staff at CRHS, has pioneered a surgery that incorporates a minimally invasive outpatient procedure called Extra-Osseous Talotarsal Stabilization and often enables patients to spend less time in the operating room and in recovery. "It's just one surgery and one recovery," Dr. Peacock says. "And you can walk the day of the procedure." Dr. Peacock makes a small incision toward the top of the outside portion of the foot and inserts a HyProCure stent. Threads on the stent allow for scar tissue to form around the grooves, anchoring the device into place during the healing process, which typically takes three to six weeks. The HyProCure procedure can also be used to treat children with flat feet, which can cause foot deformities such as bunions and hammertoe later in life. "Patients who have the HyProCure procedure often see side benefits," Dr. Peacock says. "Their feet stop hurting, but they can get relief from knee and back pain, too." To learn more about Dr. Peacock and the HyProCure procedure, call 910-642-7755. SOUTHEAST PEDIATRICS OFFERS HIGH-QUALITY CARE FROM BIRTH THROUGH ADOLESCENCE.
