During that time, many of you — our neighbors, friends and extended family — experienced hardship and devastating loss. Our thoughts and prayers were with each of you before, during and after the storm. Our mission remained steadfast in the midst of the crisis, and we persevered to continue delivering quality and compassionate care to our community, just as we do every day. CHRISTUS Southeast Texas hospitals never closed. In fact, we delivered 79 babies and attended to 2,500 emergency room visits, as well as more than 250+ inpatients. We could not have done this without our loyal and dedicated Associates. Thanks to them and the support of the over 100 volunteer registered nurses and support staff who visited from across the CHRISTUS Health System, we were #CHRISTUSstrong when our community needed us most. Although Harvey presented its share of devastation, we must not forget the glimmers of hope we witnessed. There are many stories of compassion, support, generosity and loyalty that have surfaced from this challenging time. They are everywhere. In our homes, churches, schools, grocery and hardware stores, in gatherings, and most notably, in the moments where we've seen strangers helping strangers, because, at the end of the day, we are all in this together. As we journey down the road of recovery, taking one step at a time back to normalcy, I'm keeping our community in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you enjoy this special issue of LiveWell magazine. A time like this reminds us that health is such a precious thing. I encourage you to make your health a priority in order to live a long and fulfilled life.
