W hile at The Running Event in Austin, a group of run specialty retailers and members of the ASICS sales team paired up with Girls On The Run Austin for a community service project. The group visited a Girls on The Run program at Hornsby Dunlap Elementary School to work with the young women from the school's Girls on the Run program to hand make dog toys and blankets to be distrib- uted to the shelters in the area. With the hurricanes that just happened around Texas, a bunch of displaced animals are finding their way to Austin. This group effort was a great way to help these animals by giving them a nice blanket and toys. The crew had a blast getting to meet the young volun- teers and help them with their task. Girls on the Run is a nonprofit organization with local Councils in all 50 states. Girls on the Run has served more than 1.4 million girls and serves over 200,000 girls annually. Over the course of the ten-week program, girls in 3rd-8th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event. With the largest 5K series by number of events in the world, Girls on the Run hosts more than 330 5Ks per year. n Community Service at TRE
