"On behalf of the entire New Balance North American
team, it is my honor to present the IRRC Canadian Store of
the Year Award.
Many of you know that I lived in the Toronto area for three
years and I was blessed to have the opportunity to lead our
Canadian subsidiary for 14 years. And what an incredible
experience that was. I'll never forget traveling across Canada
and meeting many of the run specialty owners who are here
tonight. I quickly learned that the entrepreneurial spirit was
alive and well. And I learned the depth of what 'Making
Specialty Special really means from my Canadian running
store Dealers.'
What we accomplished together in the decade of the 90's
was incredible, I learned firsthand the power a strong, healthy
Run Specialty channel can have. In the process, we forged
strategic alliances and I made lifelong friends. For me, many
of you here tonight will always be my Band of Brothers.
Running Specialty Dealers from Canada and the U.S. should
know each other, work with each other and learn from each other.
In these crazy, mixed up retail times, we are in this together.
And now, it is my pleasure to announce the finalists for this
award. In alphabetic order, they are; Frontrunners, Victoria,
BC; Le Coureur Nordique, Quebec City; Strides Running
Store, Calgary.
