The Award: Never Stop Exploring Award Presented by The North Face The Winner: Runners Roost, Denver Why They Won Introduced by John Hutchison, GM of the Run + Train business, The North Face. "The North Face strives to help people push limits and go beyond boundaries, both on mountain tops, and on the trails that lead to them. In 2010 The North Face created the Never Stop Exploring Award to recognize and support retailers who develop and pioneer programs that enable the next generation of runners and explorers. Specialty retailers — all of you in this room — do this every day in your shops and communities. You create environments where new runners can find expert information, community and the best products, and seasoned runners can find the perfect gear and training tips they need. The award, which includes a $5,000 donation, is to recognize and encourage high performing Running Specialty stores to continue innovating and pushing boundaries in community programs. This year's recipient has been locally owned and serving the Colorado running community for 40 years. They are known for passionately embracing and serving their local communities, especially local high schools. They are close partners with the Colorado High School Sports Association and created Spike Night, a fundraising event where local high school track teams can get spikes at a discount and earn donations for their programs. They also work with Girls on the Run and Free the Girls, a nonprofit which helps women in developing countries who are victims of sex trafficking become entrepreneurs.
