Hoka One One is releasing an update to its lightweight and cushioned Hupana style featuring a wool upper for Fall '18. The $120 Hupana Wool is fully runnable — but the brand says it is not blind to the lifestyle appeal, either. The $110 Rekovr style from Topo Athletic is another style that's playing both sides. The brand says the breathable wool upper, easy-on hook-and-loop strap and removable orthotic footbed position the style for after-run or après-ski active relaxation — but the shoe's bottom unit, built on the brand's Runventure platform, as well as the insulating properties and durability of the wool upper, make it a technical piece as well. Merrell is using wool in its 3D Knit uppers for the first time this season — adding warmth to the sock-like fit of the upper of its $150 Trail Glove 4 Knit Wool style for men and women. And Timberland has partnered with the American Woolen Co. to create NXTWool Fabric, the brand's tech story for the season. The material – which weaves Merino wool with elastane and nylon – is durable, soft (thanks to a new felting process), and DWR-coated to be water-resistant. The new $170 Jayne Warm Gaiter 10-inch laceup boot for women is the material's debut, where it shows off what it can do — and how good it can look.
