TRANSITIONAL HOME IN WESTON, MASS. "This project was already started by another builder, who left during the initial stages of construction. Since it was not our original design, it was naturally more of a challenge. So we worked with Lincoln Architects to incorporate our vision into a job that was only about 50 percent framed when we began. We had to do all the interiors, as well as finish the roofing, siding, windows and pretty much everything else. "When you look at this house, you can see it has something for everyone, including an increasingly popular transitional interior design that has evolved from a traditional Colonial style by implementing more open areas while retaining some private spaces. The beauty of this house is its wide-open foyer and wide-open kitchen leading to the family room. The kitchen and family room are the heartbeat of the entire house, where the family does most of its interaction. Like many of our projects, this one emphasizes the connection of the family room to the kitchen while enhancing their relationship to the outdoors. The spaces between the formal living room, family room and kitchen flow throughout to view the rear patio. Also, like most of our projects, the kitchen is custom-made and the product of the only kitchen designer and builder we work with. "Christina was very involved in the design, doing drawings and functional layouts, with excellent craftsmen putting it all together. It also has a butler's pantry to connect the kitchen and dining room, but with slightly di„erent, more detailed design elements than the kitchen. A 20-foot-high natural stone fireplace was built by Santangelo's masonry team. The furniture and staging was provided by Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. The carpet is from Landry & Arcari. From every room, Pella Windows offer great views. PHOTOGRAPHER: DAMIANOS PHOTOGRAPHY COVER FEATURE | Greater Boston Builder+Architect BOSTON.BUILDERARCHITECT.COM
