More an a Hpital 4 CRHEALTHCARE.ORG Making Strides to BETTER HEALTH A COLLABORATION WITH THE YMCA OF SOUTHEASTERN NORTH CAROLINA WILL BRING WELLNESS PROGRAMS TO COLUMBUS COUNTY. Diabetes, low self-esteem and obesity are just a few of the challenges children in Columbus County face due to a lack of exercise and a lack of interaction with friends and positive mentors. Based on feedback from a recent YMCA Community Needs Survey, local leaders have formed the Columbus County YMCA Steering Committee, which is launching programs that will offer children the opportunity to improve their physical, emotional and mental health. "Children in local schools are susceptible to being negatively impacted by circumstances such as drug abuse, neglect and violence," says Lauren Cole, chair of the committee. "By offering these programs, we are trying to do as much as we can, as early as we can, so our kids feel good about themselves and have the guidance they need to develop positive self-esteem and make good decisions." How You Can Help A donation to the CRHS Foundation is a wonderful way to support the mission of the Columbus County YMCA Steering Committee. Any contribution can make a meaningful difference to a local family. To learn more about the Foundation, call 910-642-9303 or visit columbusregional.com/ foundation/contact-the- foundation.
