Already NFHS has adopted the standard and for high school play all chest protectors purchased after January 1, 2020 must meet the standard. More adoptions are cer- tainly on the way and team dealers need to be prepared. While it is not yet manda- tory for players to wear chest protectors that follow the standard, manufacturers are filling the pipeline in antici- pation of more widespread acceptance in coming sea- sons. The NOCSAE standard for catcher's chest protectors is based on research that shows the risk of commotio cordis can be significantly reduced by wearing equip- ment that meets this standard. Existing protectors can not be retrofit to meet the standards. NOCSAE stresses that all components required to pass the standard must be permanently attached to each other and tested as new equipment. If a catcher were to wear something in addition to his or her chest protector, that additional piece must meet the NOCSAE standard by itself and be marked as such. All certified models, for all brands, are listed at SEINET.org ProSphere Now Full E-Commerce Teamwork Athletic Apparel's recently launched website and service, ProSphere Fan Shop, is now fully e-commerce. When launched in March only authorized Teamwork deal- ers had access to it, but now it allows consumers to place their own orders. The new e-commerce version saves dealers time by allowing their custom- ers to browse through the store, add items to their cart and place their orders themselves. In support of the e-commerce effort, Teamwork offers no mini- mum order requirements, no inventory commitments and a five-day manufacturing turn- around. Kaplan Joins OMG OrderMyGear has hired Matt Kaplan as its head of enterprise sales, a new posi- tion at the company. Kaplan comes to OrderMyGear from Under Armour, where he worked for 16 years in a vari- ety of leadership roles, most recently as the director of sales for team sports. "Matt will help con- nect our growing network of team dealers to large opportunities that were dif- ficult to access and scale prior to OrderMyGear," says Kent McKeaigg, CEO of OrderMyGear. "He will work with brands and national leagues to bridge the oppor- tunity gap in this fragmented landscape." Nokona Opens Factory Nokona, America's only ballglove factory, held a Grand Opening in May for a new production facil- ity located in the historic Nocona Boot Company building. In addition to the modern manufacturing area, the new Nokona headquar- ters features a retail store that carries gloves, apparel and leather accessories and gives consumers the oppor- tunity to design and purchase made-to-order custom gloves. A new Nokona Museum tells the story of the company's 90-year-old history, with a video-screening area, his- toric photography, vintage manufacturing pieces and sporting goods, and decades of memorabilia. Team Dealer Market Held in Charlotte The annual Team Dealer Market, which serves team dealers and sporting goods stores from North Carolina and South Carolina and is the largest spring event in the southeast, was held June 19-20 at The Big Chill Event Center in Charlotte, NC. More than 30 sales agents were in attendance, along with factory representatives presenting their products to more than 50 sporting goods stores and team dealers. There will be a new loca- tion for the 2018 October Team Dealer Market — it will be held October 29-30 at The Doubletree Resort by Hilton Myrtle Beach Oceanfront, a recently renovated prop- erty on the oceanfront in Myrtle Beach, SC. Steel Sports Partners With Champion Champion has been named the Official Apparel Partner for the 35,000 youth players, families and coaches who participate in Steel Sports baseball programs. Champion becomes the preferred out- fitter of the National Youth Baseball Championships (NYBC), Baseball Heaven and Team Steel. In addition, Steel Sports will create a Champion Grant Program for 10 teams and/or leagues to receive Champion apparel. Q Stahls' Puts On A Show at NFL Draft As fans throughout the country waited to hear the 2018 NFL Draft picks announced at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX this spring, a team from Stahls' was behind the scenes providing a personalized jersey for each draftee. Two minutes or less from the time a player was drafted to when he crossed the stage to meet the NFL commissioner, Stahls' three-person on-site team had a jersey with his name on it in the team's font and color ready for presentation. This was the seventh year Stahls' Decorating Fulfillment Center teamed with NFL official uniform provider Nike to commemorate the draft. Using pre-spaced names of all prospects created in advance to match each team's jersey and two Hotronix heat presses, the Stahls' crew was able to pull and press the correct transfer on the corresponding team jersey as soon as the name was made known.
