T WO ORGANIZ ATIONS, COLL ABOR ATING SINCE 2016, TO E XPAND ONCOLOGY SERVICES IN ONEIDA. ROS W ELL PA RK C OMPREHEN SI V E Cancer Center and Oneida Healthcare marked two milestones: the full imple- mentation of a new medica l oncolog y facility and groundbreaking at the site of a state-of-the-art radiation oncology center on the same campus. Both develop- ments are part of an initiative to provide increased loca l access to the services of a National Cancer Institute (NCI)- designated comprehensive cancer center to residents of Central New York (CNY). Construction of the radiation oncol- og y center, to be named in honor of the late Dorothy G. Grin, w i ll beg in in the late summer. When completed, the center will occupy a 6,079-square-foot building, slated to open in 2019, and will contain four exam rooms, a consultation room, a CT scanner for treatment plan- ning, a linear accelerator for radiation therapy and required support facilities on a single level in a n outpatient set- t i n g. T he cent er w i l l a ccom modat e oncolog y patient treatment pla nning, radiation therapy sessions and patient treatment monitoring. "Congratulations to Oneida Healthcare a n d R o s w e l l Pa rk C ompr e h en s iv e Cancer Center on this exciting partner- ship that delivers the highest qua lity cancer treatment services," says Senator David J. Valesky. "Having these services ava ilable in Centra l New York mea ns our communit y has the best possible care available right here, close to home." "Today marks an important day for us, and we are excited to be partnering with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center to further develop our campus with the singular vision of delivering the best care locally for those in our region who require cancer care services," says Gene Morreale, President and CEO of Oneida Healthcare. "Roswell Park and our local team will provide our region with quality cancer care that meets NCIŠguidelines, creating local access to some of the lat- est treatment options from a nationally ranked cancer center." The collaboration marks the first time such a broad array of cancer services will be united on a single site in this part of the state; previously, CNY families had to travel several hours to seek the services of a NCI-desig nated comprehensive cancer center. "Everyone deserves access to great hea lt h ca re. We're so proud of t h is aliation because it represents two great healthcare organizations coming together to address this community's needs while complement i n g ex ist i n g resou rces, enabled by both public investment and the private donors who supported our vision," says Ca ndace S. Johnson, PhD, President a nd CEO of Roswell Pa rk.
